The Kindersley Soccer Association sees a bright future for the sport in the community.
The association held it indoor registration night and information meeting on Sept. 14.
If you missed registration night, you can still register online until Sept. 30 without having to pay late fees. To register, go to http://ssa-kindersley.goalline.ca/ and click ‘2017-18 indoor mini and youth player’ tab. Then input the name of the player and birth date, then you click on ‘What’s my access code.’ This will then be emailed to you. Then you simply follow the rest of the instructions.
President Darin Wildman and vice-president Dan Lubberts shared a couple of good news items at the meeting.
The Saskatchewan Soccer Association has hired a consultant for the next year and soccer associations across the province have access to his services, attendees were told.
The Kindersley association hopes to use the consultant to help with how Kindersley can improve soccer in the community.
Over the next year, the group also hopes to put together a mission statement to reflect what it’s doing, its goals and purpose.

As well, Wildman talked about the new field being put together at Westberry School in co-operation with a number of partners, such as the school division, Westberry School, the Rural Municipality of Kindersley, the Town of Kindersley and Kindersley Soccer.
He said that the field was originally scheduled to be completed before the start of the new school year but due to snags that didn’t happen. Wildman did, however, say that the project is scheduled to be completed this spring.
The club will have access to four gymnasiums for the indoor season, which begins in mid-October and continues through mid-February.
Teams will have access to Elizabeth, Westberry and Kindersley Composite Schools, as well as Clearview Community Church.
The younger players will use Clearview Church (if needed) and Elizabeth Schools on Monday and Wednesday. The older players will play at Westberry on Wednesdays and Thursdays.
Kindersley will also have a number of travel teams for various age groups. They will practise on Fridays and Sundays at KCS when available.
The Storm teams are scheduled to play in at least four tournaments this year with the possibility of more. Most tournaments will be played in Saskatoon.
Schedules will be made up early in October, once the number of players and teams are finalized.
And adults shouldn’t be disappointed – work is being done to find a time for adults to playand there are tournament and game options available. Watch for more information.
Wildman said soccer is still the most affordable sport and one of the best that youth can play.
“For co-ordination, for your physical body and mentally it’s one of the best sports that you can play and it’s a lot of fun,” he said.
He said that all of the local players will receive some great instruction from certified coaches.
If anyone is interested in helping out, Kindersley soccer will put on a coaching clinic as well from Oct. 20 to 22.
