People attending a new fundraiser in December will compete in a friendly game of Name That Tune, with prizes up for grabs.
The contest takes place on Saturday Dec. 9 at the Norman Ritchie Community Centre starting at 7 p.m. The event is being presented by NRC Management Inc., a group responsible for the centre’s operations. Tickets for the fundraiser have already sold out.
Judy Lavoie, a board member for NRC Management and a spokesperson for the fundraiser, said people can contact her if they want to be put on a waiting list. She said ticket holders may cancel, so space might open up. Contact her at [email protected] to inquire.
Tickets were only available for groups of four or eight people because there will be eight people per table and each table is a team. The tables will compete against each other in the Name That Tune contest, Lavoie said.

A lunch sponsored by G-Mac’s AgTeam Inc. will be served at 9 p.m. and there will be a bar at the event.
The centre’s management board is raising money for upgrades to the building and the proceeds will support a future project.
“It’s a fundraiser for the Norman Ritchie Centre,” Lavoie said. Proceeds will go to a specific project at the venue. “We’re trying to raise money to develop the kitchen.”
The goal is to develop a dedicated kitchen space behind the washrooms on the main floor in a room now used for small meetings. Caterers have expressed interest in a kitchen on the main floor, and the management group wants to accommodate them.
Lavoie said the idea to do a Name That Tune contest was brought up at a board meeting. The board wanted to do something for the Christmas season and members wanted to do a fundraiser, she said. The hope was for small businesses to use the event as a Christmas party.
The entertainment is being provided by Danceland DJs.
The company will run the contest throughout the evening. According to Lavoie, there will be individual and group prizes. The team from Danceland DJs runs all aspects of the contest and the prizes are being donated by the local arts community.
The even is something new for Kindersley.
“This is something a little different, so it should be fun,” she added.
