Local family to serve Christmas meal for community

A local family has decided to pay Christmas forward this year.

Barry and Therese Malindine and family are making a Christmas meal as usual this year, but this time they’re inviting people in Kindersley and area to join them – at no cost.

The Malindines will be serving up turkey with all the trimmings on Dec. 25 at 3 p.m. at the Kindersley Legion Hall.

Barry says his daughter, Sarah, recently came up with the idea and shared it on social media. Since then, he said, the response from the community has been tremendous.

“We’ve had such great response from people in the community,” he said. “They’ve been asking how they can donate or help out, which has been great.”

Food donations and help are both very welcome. If anyone is interested in being a part of this project, they can contact Barry at 306-460-7636 or Sarah at 306-460-6366.

The meal is for anyone who would like to join them – no one will be turned away.

However, Barry said they would like to get an idea how many people will attend. They ask that reservations be made by calling Barry or Sarah by Dec. 17.

Barry also said delivery of meals would be available if the need is there.

Why are they doing this?

“There is a need in the community for something like this,” he said. “We would hate for anyone to be alone at Christmas.”

Now that’s the spirit of Christmas.
