The Kindersley campus of Great Plains College held its graduation exercises for the 2016-17 school year, and a total of 54 people are moving on to the next chapter in their lives.

Teachers, staff, students and various guests attended the college’s 2017 graduation ceremony and scholarship presentation program held on May 26 at the Kindersley Inn. Of the 54 total graduates from full-time programs offered in Kindersley and Rosetown, 30 of them were at the event.

Fritz Eckstein, manager for the Kindersley region, welcomed graduates and their supporters to the graduation ceremony. He addressed the crowd before everyone enjoyed a supper prepared by the hotel’s staff. He said the college was thrilled to have more than 175 in attendance.

Eckstein told people the graduation ceremony is one of his three favourite occasions in the school year. He said orientation day is one such occasion because of a thrill of things to come and the raw potential of students.

Eckstein said graduation day is another favourite and it’s significant to him because the accomplishments of students, their hard work, dedication, passion and sacrifices all are celebrated. He saved his third occasion for later in the evening. For the graduates, he said the evening “is a time to reflect and congratulate yourselves.”
