Two teens from North Battleford, Brooklyn and Kelsey, were the captains in charge as kids took off to explore outer space fun and games during the Mobile Playground in Kindersley, Wednesday, Aug. 8, at the West Central Events Centre. Rivers West District for Sport, Culture and Recreation hosted the play day with 20 children ages five to 11 years participating.

The day started off with high-energy games: Capture the Planet, Put the Rings on Saturn, and Hot Moon Walk, played both indoors and outdoors. Later in the afternoon, the astronaut kids enjoyed a crafting session, allowing their imaginations to run wild as they transformed paper plates into various planets.

“The kids definitely enjoyed the craft session the most,” Brooklyn said. Even though the 18-year-old’s future career plans don’t involve children, she says, “Working with kids teaches me a lot of lessons. I’ve learned how to interact with kids. I’ve met a lot of kids. This is the 10th play day I’ve been involved in. I enjoy meeting all the new kids.”
