Long before people arrive at the blood donor clinic at Kindersley, there are people who have been busy ensuring everything runs smoothly throughout the day.

One of those individuals is Lorna Richardson. Having received blood transfusions as a baby, Lorna knows first hand the importance of helping make blood donor clinics happen.

“I co-ordinate people to help the mobile unit staff – to set up chairs and tables. When the clinic is going on, I make sure there are two people there to replenish snacks and drinks. I find volunteers to keep watch for donors who are fainting, etc. Then after the clinic is finished, we clean up and put everything away.”

According to Lorna, the response from volunteers is always very good.

In addition to the help from local volunteers, the Co-op supplies the refreshments, and the high school recruits three students to help throughout the day.
