The byelection to choose the next Kindersley MLA is tomorrow and voters will head to one of three polling stations in the community to cast their ballots.

The byelection takes place at polling stations in 20 communities throughout the Kindersley constituency. The polls on March 1 run from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. and voter information is available at www.elections.sk.ca via Elections Saskatchewan.

The three candidates running are Ken Francis of the Saskatchewan Party, Travis Hebert of the New Democratic Party of Saskatchewan and Yvonne Potter-Pihach of the Saskatchewan Green Party.

Advance polls closed on Tuesday after five days.

Thursday’s polls for Kindersley are located at the Elks Hall, Kindersley Christian Fellowship church and Caleb Village. Eligible voters have to vote at their specified polls.

The specific poll is identified on the Voter Information Card (VIC) that was sent in the mail. If a registered voter did not receive a VIC before Feb. 20, they can contact Elections Saskatchewan by calling 1-877-958-8683 or online.

If you are not registered to vote, register by contacting Elections Saskatchewan. People could also register to vote at the advanced poll or byelection polls if they are eligible, but it will take longer to vote.

People will have to present one piece of approved photo identification with their names and addresses or two pieces of accepted identification such as a birth certificate and a utility bill. A list of accepted identification is available on the website.

To be eligible to vote, a person has to be a Canadian citizen, be at least 18 years old, have lived in Saskatchewan since Aug. 2, 2017, and be a resident of the voting constituency.
