Former Kindersley Klipper Bryson Cecconi was chosen by the Humboldt Broncos to join the team this year in the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League dispersal draft held recently.

Cecconi joined the team last season from the Nipawin Hawks. The right-winger had four goals and five assists with the Klippers this season in 34 games.

The team chose players from each SJHL team to help rebuild the team that was devastated by the tragic collision between the Broncos’ bus and semi-trailer on April 6 that claimed the lives of 16 players and staff on their way to a playoff game in Nipawin.

Other players chosen include: Connor Smith, Battleford North Stars; Shane Hounsell, La Ronge Ice Wolves; Eric McNeilly and Ayden Third, Melfort Mustangs; Ethan Kopyczyn, Melville Millionaires; Ahmed Ally, Notre Dame Hounds; Austin Mikesch, Nipawin Hawks; Jessie Young, Weyburn Red Wings; and Kyle Sargent, Yorkton Terriers.

SJHL officials said that an arrangement has been made with the Estevan Bruins for a player to be selected by Humboldt in the future. The Flin Flon Bomers received an exemption from the Broncos.

The Broncos also welcomed 80 prospective players at an invitation-only camp held from May 25-27 in Saskatoon.

The team also continues their search for a head coach.
